Resumen

ZANELLO, Valeska  y  SOUSA, Gustavo. More music, less Haldol: an experience among music, phármakon and madness. Mental [online]. 2009, vol.7, n.13, pp. x-x. ISSN 1679-4427.

The madness phenomenon mobilizes the society since the beginning of civilization. However, the definition of this phenomenon, its understanding and form of treatment are changed historical and culturally. The way as madness is understood elects a propaedeutic and who is able to employ it. In many institutions, madness is taken as a “mental illness”, and medication has a privileged, sometimes exclusive place as a therapeutic intervention way. Meanwhile, alternative healthcare practices are viewed with disregard in helping the patients’ recovery. This study aimed to find the results of using music workshops and dances in the inpatient ward of a public psychiatric hospital.
