Resumen

JUCA, Vládia Jamile dos Santos et al. Psychological practice and grupal activities in psychosocial attention centers. Mental [online]. 2010, vol.8, n.14, pp. 93-113. ISSN 1679-4427.

This paper aims at understanding how psychologists working in community mental health services view the group activities they coordinate. A study was realized in two services: one in the city of Salvador and the other in a nearby town. The data were produced through qualitative fieldwork methods: interviews and systematic observation. As for results, it was discovered that professionals feel compelled to realize group activities because of institutional demands. Although some of them feel unprepared to manage groups, most of them usually attend to such requests. Group management is described as marred by various difficulties. In spite of such difficulties, some service users succeed in bonding into the groups, which, together with other activities, have brought about a significant improvement in their clinical condition
