Abstract

LIMA, Mônica; JUCA, Vládia Jamile dos Santos  and  SANTOS, Lívia. Production of Subjectivity and social insertion strategies for users in a Psychosocial Attention Center, in Bahia, Brazil. Mental [online]. 2011, vol.9, n.16, pp. 303-326. ISSN 1679-4427.

This article discusses the production of subjectivity of users with access to social insertion strategies and day-to-day relations with the health professionals in a Psychosocial Attention Center. A qualitative epistemology approach and Fernando González-Rey's concept of subjectivity were used. Semi-structured interviews were used with users, family members, and professionals, as well as a field diary to register the participant observations. The data were illustrated from two perspectives: internal organization of the service and its relation with the public health system; and indoor and outdoor social insertion strategies. There are individual subjectivity changes of the people involved in the challenge of building this substitute model, which, regardless all difficulties, offers users access to strategies opposed to isolation and social exclusion.

Keywords : Subjectivity; social inclusion; psychiatric reform; mental health; qualitative epistemology.
