Abstract

CORREA, Cristia Rosineiri Gonçalves Lopes. Understanding in Karl Jaspers' Psychopathology and in Psychoanalysis. Mental [online]. 2011, vol.9, n.16, pp. 303-326. ISSN 1679-4427.

This article examines the approach to understanding in Karl Jaspers' Psychopathology and in Psychoanalysis. It suggests that whereas Jaspers claims the legitimacy of understanding in the psychotic phenomena, Lacan, in Psychoanalysis, criticizes such an approach, suggesting that Jaspers misses out the dialectic dimension in the "normal" understanding. In this sense, the present article proposes that Lacan questions the ethical efficacy of the clinic grounded on the understanding claimed by Jaspers.

Keywords : Understanding; sense; ab-sens; Lacan; Jaspers.
