Abstract

PASSOS, Maria Consuêlo. For a psychoanalytic understanding of the subject-city interweaving. Mental [online]. 2017, vol.11, n.20, pp. 29-44. ISSN 1679-4427.

The objective of this paper was to discuss the subject-city relationship with reference to some notions of Winnicottian psychoanalysis, especially one that sees the environment as the foundation for psychic constitution and the mother as a representative of this in the first moments of a baby's life. Based on this principle, we discussed the secondary environment that starts at home and extends to the city, expanding the possibilities of relationship with the other, in different places and with different functions. We approached, then, the mother-environment, the house and the city as three essential ingredients for the emergence of the subject, having each of them its own functions. These features highlight the formation of bonds and belonging while suggesting some interweaving of the subject with the city. The malaise was studied based on the study of the Freudian text itself, while the discussion of vulnerability is based on notions of political philosophy brought by Judith Butler.

Keywords : subject; city; malaise; vulnerability.
