Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify from the narrative of women with history of severe psychological distress as legal devices and assistive understand and deal with the dilemmas presented by them and their environment with respect to the exercise of motherhood. The History of Life was adopted as a methodological perspective. Interviews were semi-structured, recorded in audio and video, with six women with a history of severe psychological distress. The reports have pointed out that women tend to be devoid formally and more often informally from their seats as mothers, because of their mental condition and, moreover, the lack of social support.
