This study aimed to identify possible correlation between suicidal ideation and the consumption of drugs of abuse by teenagers. The sample was made up of 816 students from State schools from Campina Grande(PB). The instrument used was a self-administered questionnaire, whose analyses were made by descriptive statistics and bivariate. Among the participants, 20.2% thought about committing suicide, 12.0% made a suicide plan and 3.8% of the sample have attempted suicide. Regarding the use of drugs, 1.6% of the sample used marijuana and 5.6% inhalant drugs. A correlation of 0.34 (p < 0.05) has been identified between suicidal ideation and drug use, and of 0.33 (p < 0.05) between attempted suicide and drug use. The results point to an emerging need for outreach programs with attention focused on prevention of suicides and drug consumption.
