Abstract

This research is about the psychologist’s training process and its implications in the comprehension of the suicide’s phenomenon. It is intended to reveal the importance of the interprofessional education to handling extreme situations focusing on the suicidal behavior. The data collection was conducted through semi-structured interviews with students of the final year of Psychology with the material content analysis. The data indicate that despite the innovative proposal to providing the interprofessional education of Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP) grants to the students a way to face many challenges in their work field, there is still need for greater approximation and support facing severe psychic suffering and borderline situations of high complexity as suicide. It is concluded that this study can contribute to positive changes in the host to reveal the challenges to guiding a care plan to the people that experience these situations in the health services.
