Abstract

SANTOS, Jéssica Caroline dos  and  SERBENA, Carlos Augusto. Dream work in mental health according to the analytical psychology perspective. Mental [online]. 2017, vol.11, n.21, pp. 501-526. ISSN 1679-4427.

This study is a theoretical approach related to the work with dreams from the analytical psychology perspective, as a possibility to mental health intervention. This view reflects the different dialogues of psychology with the subjective process. However, it is observed that this important tool, which is widely used in psychological treatments of private practices, is expressionless in mental health services. The conceptual analysis was made through internet research, in the databases: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline), PsycINFO, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (Lilacs), Red de Revistas Científicas de América Latina y el Caribe, España y Portugal (Redalyc) e Periódicos Eletrônicos de Psicologia (PePSIC), beyond main books using the following keywords: dreams, mental health and analytical psychology. The found studies showed positive results of working with dreams described as expansion of consciousness, reduction of physical and psychological symptoms, opening to a therapeutic space, transforming and directing the process of individuation. So, it was considered the correlation of the work with dreams in mental health promotion, based on the light technology, whose objective is to make the subject autonomous and participant in his psychological development, by building interpersonal relationships, based on the host, bonding and expression of psychic contents. This theoretical research allowed the rescue of the importance of the techniques that works with subjectivity and provides direction to mental suffering. Thus, there is the need to redirect these interventions to the field of mental health, particularly the results of this study and the correlation with light technology, which could reach many people in mental suffering and allow a new contact experience and transformation of his psychological phenomena.

Keywords : dreams; mental health; analytical psychology.
