Abstract

PAULA, Joice Cristina de  and  BOTTI, Nadja Cristiane Lappann. Draft laws related to suicide prevention in Brazil. Mental [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.23, pp. 144-165. ISSN 1679-4427.

The reflection on the Draft Laws aimed at preventing suicide helps to understand how the theme is being conducted in Brazil. Thus, in order to discuss the proposed bills, in the period from 2007 to 2017, a search was carried out in the Chamber of Deputies related to the subject in question. 20 Draft Laws were found for two groups of documents called: public policy and legislative changes. The topic related to suicide prevention does not occupy a central place in the number of bills submitted to the Chamber of Deputies, especially those related to public policy. Finally, the importance of establishing a regulatory norm that guarantees the preventive exercise of suicide is considered.

Keywords : Suicide; Suicide attempt; Legislation; Public policy.
