Abstract

CHAMUSCA, Clara Magalhães; JUCA, Vládia Jamile dos Santos  and  RODRIGUES, Iago Lobo Siqueira. Corra pro abraço (run to the hug): mental health and harm reduction at streets of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Mental [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.25, pp. 1-15. ISSN 1679-4427.

This experience report addresses an internship experience in Psychology in the Corra Pro Abraço (Run to the hug) Program, wich took place between 2017-2018, in Salvador, Bahia. The program is linked to the Justice, Human Rights and Socia Development Secretary, aimed at people in situations of psychosocial vulnerability. The work was aimed at the homeless population and users of psychoactive substances. The article will report the singular and collective care strategies built with this population, mostly black and young aduts, based on the observation of the effects of these interventions of the Program, expanding the subjects life possibilities. It is concluded by the relevance of the program as a space for training and practice in the face of the neoliberal scenario of the war on drugs and of the asylum and prohibitionist logic.
