Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the perception of men and women, separated or already divorced, on the influence of families of origin in mate choice, the marital relationship and marital separation. The research was based on semi-structured interviews and content analysis, the theoretical basis was supported in systemic and psychoanalytic approaches. The three categories of analysis deal with: marital choice, marital relationship and marital separation. From these it was possible to identify the content of participants' speech recognition of similarities of their marital relationship with their parents or in-laws as well as more policy influence of families of origin in various stages of married life.
