Abstract

BARRETO, Maria José  and  RABELO, Aline Andrade. The family and the challenging role of adolescents’ parents in contemporaneity. Pensando fam. [online]. 2015, vol.19, n.2, pp. 34-42. ISSN 1679-494X.

Taking into account the existential process as a continuous development of each subject, whose subjective implications are built according to the interaction with his or her social and cultural environment, the present work highlights the challenge faced by adolescents’ parents in the contemporary family, aiming, thus, at promoting contemplation. So, following the review on narrative literature, data over the definition of family has been researched, of its evolutionary process and trying to understand how its social function is established. Later, some adolescent’s behavioral characteristics were presented, which in specific contexts they convey the need for guidance from the parents, whose roles were afterwards discussed. It’s understood, for this reason, that the need for a dialogue between parents and kids based on tenderness and respect is essential to the success in their relationship, since that through inter relational harmony and balance the parents take over the function of educating effectively.
