Abstract

BARROS, Amailson Sandro de  and  FREITAS, Maria de Fátima Quintal de. Domestic violence against children and adolescents: consequences and prevention strategies with aggressive parents. Pensando fam. [online]. 2015, vol.19, n.2, pp. 102-114. ISSN 1679-494X.

This paper presents part of a bibliographical research that aimed at verifying articles written in Brazil which are related to Psychology and Education, available in electronic forms at the Scielo and PePSI databases between the years 2000 and 2014, such works are about group practices with parents involved in violent domestic situations against their own children. After analyzing the contents, some categories emerged, and two of them will be presented here and discussed: the consequences of domestic violence against children and adolescents and the intervention strategies with the group of aggressive parents. The result shows damage to the victim's psychological, physical, cognitive and social development; also that the work done with groups of parents is a fundamental strategy to reduce and prevent violence and that the results seen with this kind of intervention indicate improvement in the adult's comprehension over their responsibility regarding raising their children and adolescents.

Keywords : Domestic violence against children and adolescents; Aggressive parents; Consequences; Prevention.
