Abstract

CRONEMBERGER, Izabel Herika Gomes Matias  and  TEIXEIRA, Solange Maria. The Brazilian social protection system, social welfare policy and attention to family. Pensando fam. [online]. 2015, vol.19, n.2, pp. 132-147. ISSN 1679-494X.

The Federal Constitution of 1988 recognizes, in fact, social rights, and is considered the biggest breakthrough in institutions of social protection. Still, it remained the basic contradiction between protecting the family and / or treat it as a source of natural protection and social responsibility by its members. However, the definition of what family has not remained stable throughout history, as the emphasis on the nuclear family proves to be relatively current and in other historical moments, primary education does not necessarily fit the family. Taking into account these aspects, this paper aims to discuss how the Social Assistance Policy is part of the Brazilian social protection system and the place of the family in the set of policies, especially in social work, highlighting the advances, the limits and contradictions in the mode attention to it. For that carried out literature review, literature and normative and presents some of the findings in search results at the level of Postgraduate LatuSensu Program. Points to advances in the normative Assistance Policy, the need to protect the social and familial matricialidade, but significant decreases that can compromise the protective locus of families in vulnerable situations.
