Abstract

BERNARDI, Denise; DIAS, Monica de Vasconcellos; MACHADO, Rebeca Nonato  and  FERES-CARNEIRO, Terezinha. Setting boundaries in remarriage: report of a clinical experience. Pensando fam. [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.2, pp. 43-55. ISSN 1679-494X.

The present study aims to investigate the boundaries on remarriage, seeking to understand the interplay established between conjugality and parenthood in the structuring of the new Family. For this, we have developed a clinical-qualitative research, from a case study in a clinical school from a private University in Rio de Janeiro. Couple psychotherapy occurred during eight months, with weekly supervision. We used reports that were prepared during the treatment process in order to get the data. We noticed that there are peculiarities in the relations of a remarried family, as the presence of a delicate balance between the spousal identity construction and reorganization of parental roles. We observed the need to elaborate the expectations triggered by the new spouse's participation in the care of the children from the first marriage, seeking to create a dialogue about the interference in the newly built conjugality.
