Abstract

ANTUNES, Marcos Henrique; MORE, Carmen Leontina Ojeda Ocampo  and  SCHNEIDER, Daniela Ribeiro. Understanding retirement in a relational perspective: contributions from systemic thinking. Pensando fam. [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.2, pp. 70-84. ISSN 1679-494X.

This theoretical study aims at presenting the systemic thinking and its contributions to understanding retirement in its family, relational and work contexts. The article is divided in two sections, besides the introduction, in which the main aspects involved in the experience of retirement and its repercussions are characterized. The first section discusses the historical and epistemological bases of the systemic thinking, whereas the second section presents the family life cycle contribution as a theoretical-practical possibility for the apprehension and intervention in the retirement process. The systemic thinking is considered to allow a deeper understanding of elements from an individual’s relational context, which influence from their decision making to their adaptation to this period of life. Thus, the study highlights the relevance of actions and research within this framework, bearing in mind that such framework allows for an increase in the analysis locus.

Keywords : Retirement; Family; Systemic thinking; Epistemology.
