Abstract

This study aimed to investigate how was the establishment of the new marital relationship and the conflicts experienced from remarriage. Integrated six women who experienced a steady relationship with a man who had children from a previous one. The data were collected on a meeting with each participant on which the genogram of the family was built, with the aid of an identification data sheet. In addition, semi-structured interviews with open questions were used and analyzed through thematic content analysis. The results showed how quickly the cohabitation between the interviewed women and their partners was settled. Furthermore, it was found that the relationship the clash between former and current partner was identified as the main conflict in the remarried family, feature that may be related to the short period in which men were single. Another source of tension that was present is related to the child support payment.
