Abstract

TESSARO, Débora  and  SCHMIDT, Beatriz. Career choice: systemic theory and interventions for adolescent and family. Pensando fam. [online]. 2017, vol.21, n.1, pp. 92-104. ISSN 1679-494X.

The aim of this study was to characterize the career choice process in adolescence and discuss psychological interventions guided by the systems theory with adolescents and families, by a non-systematic review. It was found that systemic practices allow understanding and reframing of aspects of personal and family development, from a perspective of greater career choice readiness, which is associated with quality of life in the present and the future. This is because appropriate guidance in the career choice process relates to health promotion, prevention of behavioral problems and stress reduction in adolescents, as well as better results in adulthood. This study highlights the importance of promoting and qualifying professional practice and research in the career choice process in adolescence, from a point of view of systemic theory and intervention, which remains little explored in the Brazilian literature.
