This article aims to evaluate the bibliographic production consisting of research reports indexed in the CAPES and SCOPUS database, from 2006 to 2016, on the theme of diagnosis and coping strategies in families of people with Down Syndrome. This review proposes to verify the influence of the diagnosis impact and the strategies of parental coping as factors that affect the direct caregivers and contribute to the occurrence of changes in the familiar dynamics. The research findings were classified according to the topic investigated. It can be concluded that parents, without exception, suffer the impact of the diagnosis of with DS and are affected by a process of acute suffering.
