This article aimed to investigate the ecological context and involvement with the unlawful activities of adolescents who are under socio-educative measure in semi-open regime. This is a fragment of a qualitative research, in which semi-structured interviews was performed with 21 adolescents, aged between 15 and 20 years who fulfill socioeducative measure in a countryside city in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Qualitative data analysis showed impoverished strategies for conflict resolution, and weaknesses in micro and exosystem. It is important to highlight the absence of healthy and stable relations in many fields and the exposure to risk situations since childhood. In this sense, the ecological context that could be a protective factor is crossed by risk factors, which influence the unlawful activities. It is important to ensure the effectiveness of public policies aimed to promote the healthy adolescent development.
