This study aims to comprehend how does adolescents from lower classes perceive fatherhood during the first year of their children. Participants were three teenagers, first time parents of healthy babies. A semi-structured interview was conducted. We used the collective case study design of longitudinal character, giving attention to particularities and similarities among cases. Main findings highlight personal fulfillment of adolescents with parenting, even if they were not prepared to perform the experience of being a father. After babies were born, they had their routines changed due to the need to access the job market. When the child was one year old, they realized that the care was different from that performed in the period up to 40 days after birth. The importance of developing and carrying out health actions as a focus for transition and intervention in the context of adolescent fatherhood, so that it is possible to accompany fathers during the experience of becoming parents.
