WENDT, Guilherme Welter  y  APPEL-SILVA, Marli. Parental practices and associations with self-esteem and depression in adolescents. Pensando fam. [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.1, pp. 224-238. ISSN 1679-494X.

The present study analyzed the associations between parental practices (PP), self-esteem and depression in adolescents, using both correlational and regression analyses. The results showed that associations between PP were more robust for depression than for self-esteem. Regression analyzes indicated that gender, emotional support and intrusiveness might account for nearly 25% of depressive symptoms. Taken together, the findings of the research reinforce that the behaviors emitted by the parents in the education of their children can be associated with both negative outcomes, depression and positive outcomes (self-esteem).

Palabras clave : Parental practices; Adolescence; Self-esteem; Depression.
