Abstract

FAVARO, Mariana; RUCKL, Sarah Cristina Zanghellini; SANCHES, Mário Antônio  and  SIMAO-SILVA, Daiane Priscila. The place of desire for abortion in parenting: a bioethical reflection. Pensando fam. [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.2, pp. 75-89. ISSN 1679-494X.

Abortion is a dilemmatic and sensitive issue. Thus, its demographic aspects are still elusive. The objective of this research is to obtain and analyze demographic data on the risk of the desire for abortion. In the State of Paraná the research instrument "Parenting Planning in the Context of Bioethics" was applied. Among 1608 participants (74.2% identified as women and 24.94% as men), 4.5% responded to have strongly desired an abortion. For parents who did not plan for pregnancy (39.9% of participants) the strong desire for an abortion corresponded to 51.4%. When correlating this desire with other variables, it is evident that vulnerability must be considered in the development of parenting, as it impacts family planning and the desire for abortion, in addition to social and gender issues. This study points out the need to expand demographic studies on the desire for abortion, as well as the use of Bioethics as a tool for family planning programs.
