Participants: nonrandom sample of 19 subjects (10 men and 9 women) with diabetes mellitus type 1 or type 2, with more than 5 years of disease progression. MIPS questionnaire was applied personality style (Millon, 1997), questionnaire on self-perception of adherence to treatment of diabetes, and semistructured interview. The data analysis was performed from multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) using the software package XLSTAT. The interviews carried out a thematic coding. The ACM showed little interaction between the levels of grip and personality styles, analysis of outliers was obtained that the interaction of two main categories: knowledge about the disease and knowledge about themselves, explain the high level of grip.
