This article tries to reflect about the social representation of psychologist/ psychology for people from low rent neighbourhood, located in North region of Great Laughs do Sul State, Brazil. Twenty-three semi-structured interviews were made by mean of domiciliary visits to neighbourhood resident families. Results indicated that most of participants don’t possess representation of what can be a psychologist. Psychologist/psychology are understood like something distant to those residents and therefore difficult to be represented. Dialogues refers to a social representation related to «some mental thing”, to professional who works with school age children with adaptation problems, or to adults with problems.
