Abstract

HERNANDEZ CORDOBA, Ángela. Supervision of sistemic psychotherapists: An amphora to provide instruments of change. Diversitas [online]. 2007, vol.3, n.2, pp. 227-238. ISSN 1794-9998.

This article is a reflection based on my prolonged experience as supervisor in psychotherapist training programs. I understand the supervision as a clinical-formative scenario and as a generative and transformative process. It is also a way to teach a specific therapy model and a reflexive practice on the own therapeutic practice. There is an isomorphism between therapy and supervision and in both contexts the relational dynamics emerges in the interaction between the individual construction with the co-construction in the supervision team. The supervision purpose is to activate the therapists’s relational. Resources in order to extend and diversify their relational competences, so they can become more effective and versatile instruments of change. The supervision team operates thought reflexive conversations with de supervisor, who is also emotional support, consultant, trainer, colleague and advocate. This way the supervision context creates a synergy where clients, therapists and supervisors have a fascinating existential experience.
