Abstract

SANCHEZ ESCARCEGA, Jorge. Transference in the psychoanalytical treatment of couples. Vínculo [online]. 2008, vol.5, n.1, pp. 68-75. ISSN 1806-2490.

The author puts together in this paper two perspectives of transference in couples relationships: a) the one that is produced between partners in their intrapsychic dimension (where drive, negation, splitting and projective identification reign, and where, in extreme, is not possible any intersubjectivity), and b) the one that arises form interpsychic or intersubjectivity dimension (where central problem is the achievement of a capacity to tolerate the “otherness” of the couple, that is, the mutual representation as separated and at the same time united persons, in a relationship that is perceived either complementary and different). On the other hand, there are shown some peculiarities of the concept of transference when in couple’s therapy situation, specially in reference to the role of the analyst, due to the fact that he or she introduces a basic alteration in a relationship that is called to be exclusively of two persons.

Keywords : Psychoanalytic couple’s therapy; Transference; Subjectivity; Emotional bond.
