Abstract

RODRIGUEZ, Brunella Carla  and  PAIVA, Maria Lucia de Souza Campos. A study on the exercise of the parenthood in homosexual context. Vínculo [online]. 2009, vol.6, n.1, pp. 13-25. ISSN 1806-2490.

Families have been facing changes and are being presented in various forms, questioning the traditional model, and making one rethink its meaning. The homoparental configuration was elected for this study, with families where at least one homosexual adult assumes the parenthood of a child. This article presents the results of an investigation on the homoparental exercising realized with two couples, focusing the specifics that exist in a homosexual parental relationship, as well as understanding the parental roles. For such research the clinical-qualitative methodology developed by Turato (2003) was used. Data was collected through semi-direct interview and Drawings of Family with stories (Trinca, 1997). It was perceived that the homoparentais families differentiation from other configurations is due to prejudice they face, and lack of support and social acceptance of the origin families and circles. Homoparental families have their specificities, but, like other family configurations, they also have difficulties and conflicts.
