Resumen

FERNANDES, Waldemar José. Narcisism in patients and therapists: a linking perspective. Vínculo [online]. 2009, vol.6, n.2, pp. 150-161. ISSN 1806-2490.

The author addresses in this work the understanding of the narcissism concept, in the perspective of linking psychoanalysis. Here are some thoughts about the effect of narcissism in patients and in the therapist himself, in regards to transference, counter-transference and to interference - the transforming impact of the Encounter between individuals. Such thoughts originate from a basis of psychoanalytical concepts, focusing mainly on Bion, Zimerman and Janine Puget, among other psychoanalysts and group analysts, and also approaching ideas discussed by the author. There is also a discussion about the issue of the relationship which may exist between interpretations and further intervention from the therapist and his narcissism. In conclusion, the author comments about the need to live and manage one’s own narcissism, helping patients to do the same.

Palabras clave : Narcissism; Linking; Interference; Living with diversity.
