Abstract

MAIA, Edilberto Clairefont Dias. How to work with group of somatic patients. Vínculo [online]. 2009, vol.6, n.2, pp. 162-170. ISSN 1806-2490.

At first, the author shows the importance of Danilo Perestrello for the Psychosomatic Medicine in Brazil. The somatic illness is seen under three perspectives: the illness, the relationship between doctor and patient and the therapeutic action. The author tells about the self building since the first contact with the mother and the environment and also a hereditary morbid potential that will or will not be revealed. The author also shows that the patient has a psyche that works just like the one of a psychotic person, and the meaning is pre symbolic, getting the words out of affectionate meanings. Because the patients are immature, the psychotherapy goes from a support therapy to a focused work, developing into a reflexive therapy, self knowledge and insight. Next, the author brings part of a session to show the importance of verbalization to make patients go from the pre symbolic to the symbolic meaning, thinking about the meaning of his illnesses, improving his relationship with the world.

Keywords : Somatic Illness; Symbolism; Psychosomatic; Group analysis.
