This study reflects on the contribution of phenomenology to group work in the context of obesity, according to the philosophy of Merleau-Ponty. This article discusses some ideas presented by the french philosopher about the experience and bodily experience. The body is presented as an object of study that has attracted interest from several disciplines, trying to understand it from several corners. Faced with the look that the obese states in relation to himself and others, your body will have a psychological representation, biological and sociological to determine its reflection against the world he lives and shaping their relations with it. The application of groups guided by a phenomenological understanding allows a comprehensive approach of the phenomena associated with obesity, valuing the subjective dimension of the disease.
