This article aims to address, under the psychoanalytic framework, understandings of marital difficulties and how to manage them, thinking about the vicissitudes of contemporaneity. We start from the idea that the present reserve challenges to the maintenance of loving bonds, since it contemplates conditions of existence that offer the feeling of insecurity, uncertainty about the future and ephemerality in all relationships. It will be discussed the concept of bonding, their specificities and thus demonstrated that to build a satisfactory bond it will be necessary to maintain sustained by respect, reciprocity, responsibility and mutual recognition. The durability of a bond requires commitment and psychic ability of the dyad to take responsibility for their problems and conflicts, and to learn to deal with them whenever necessary. It is the nature of a bond requiring the psychic work of thinking problems, since adversity is inherent to its dynamics.
