The group activities in the psychologist professional practice constitute a fundamental role when it comes to a psychological intervention in both clinical and institutional fields. The methods that composes our study are a bibliographical survey and a documental research of the group modalities performed in the medical charts of an university based in the interior of São Paulo estate. This study has the approval of the CER (Committee of Ethics in Research) under the following number: 67358217.4.0000.5495. The qualitative analysis was carried based on the medical charts and reports of the previous mentioned college subject and the theoretical framework. The results unveiled that the most applied group modality, concerning the period of 2010 to 2016 of the internship, was the institutional one, consequently the clinical group intervention had a smaller range of application. Through the qualitative analysis it was possible to verify the benefits of the group intervention in both clinical and institutional areas, as well as in the users and interns. The benefits to the users can be listed for its therapeutic aspect, and to the interns can be highlighted by the group experience in their professional qualification.
