ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to identify and qualitatively discuss the articles of the last five years on the use of the operative group as a tool in mental health work. An integrative review was performed in the databases: Capes Journals and Virtual Health Library, using the descriptors in Portuguese, Spanish and English: operative group and mental health, from 2014 to 2018. The results indicate the frequent use of the operative group in the public system in the fields of health and social care. The effectiveness of the operative group in mental health care was observed, however it is necessary to continue the formation of group coordinators.
