Abstract

PAULUK, Marcel. A new sight on writing: cognitive sciences and semiotics contribution to the development of a writing science. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2004, vol.2, pp. 02-10. ISSN 1806-5821.

Abstract Despite its vital cognitive and semiotic importance, writing never achieved, by itself, a place of honor at the Academy, except by those studies related to teaching techniques and apprenticeship, or literary studies. Even if those studies are of great value to the comprehension of discourse's genres and writing's teaching methodologies, fundamental aspects of its cognitive and semiotic processes end up totally relegated by each of those approaches limitations. Cognitive Sciences and Semiotics' theoretical ground has been providing the understanding of some of these aspects, collaborating to the establishment of a true Writing Science. The broad and deepening character of these studies is still very narrow, but very promising. © Ciências & Cognição 2004; Vol. 02: 02-10.

Keywords : writing; semiotics; cognitive sciences.
