Abstract

MOLLEA, Ana Carolina M. et al. Psychophysiological factors in the hormonal reposition therapy in males. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2004, vol.3, pp. 04-09. ISSN 1806-5821.

This study aimed to explain some aspects related to andropause and to male hormonal reposition therapy. However, the current scientific literature does not establish definitive concepts due to andropause expression variability and to absence of specific symptoms, as well as to considered yet non-relevant correlation between testosterone levels and symptoms. Among the symptoms can be emphasize the sexual dysfunction, increase of corporal fat proportion, decrease of muscle mass, depression, and others. Hormonal reposition therapy treatment may improve significantly the simptons, but it is not recommended to all patients since it is recommended to establish a case by case balance between benefits and possible non expected adverse effects. © Ciências & Cognição 2004; Vol. 03: 04-09.
