The aim of this article are to study the alteration of the consciousness that originates the lucid dream, a modality of dream, in which the oneiric ego understands that it is dreaming and that its physical body is sleeping, and to analyze the reasons and the conditions to study the transition process from the usual state of oneiric consciousness to the non usual state of lucidity. In this way, it was evaluated the psychic and cognitive modifications, that involves mnemonic and internal perceptuals mechanisms, presents during the dream lucidity state. © Ciências & Cognição 2005; Vol. 05: 50-66.
