The present family crisis, with couples complaining of conjugal dissatisfaction, they attribute to communication difficulties, has elicited the interest of several researchers on various human science areas. This article presents the theoretical basis of an empirical research, in progress, on this type of couple's problem. It is intend to evaluate the possible influence of conjugal variable, such as, social abilities, locus of control and communication on their mutual satisfaction. Obtained theoretical relations may help to predict behavioral changes on conjugal communication, with possible increase on conjugal satisfaction. © Ciências & Cognição 2005; Vol. 06: 123-132.
