Abstract The present study analyzes a workable relationship between the library and the toy library in the school environment, investigating the extent to which the former stimulates ludic processes through the book and how the experiences and practices developed at a toy library might contribute to the use of the book as a pleasure-giving object. The research was conducted through a qualitative approach, documental and descriptive in character, having as its main source the toy library's teacher's Cadernos de Planejamento e Registros. The data showed that the sharing of information and practices between the library and the toy library is feasible, revealing the importance of partnership, communication, and planned integration between these spaces of instruction and formation. © Ciências & Cognição 2006; Vol. 08: 10-21.
