Abstract The following paper focus the contemporary link between biological rationalities and the subjectivity, understanding the historical changes that life and language pass since modernity till nowadays. To accomplish our goals, we take the conceptions used by Foucault in "The words and the Things", where the birth of the man in the modern knowledge is linked with three fields: work, language and life, with it being is temporally articulated. The last two fields- life and language - have suffered changes as molecular biology, biotechnologies and neurosciences have developed. Now, life seems to be not only something that the conscience must represent, but has turned into a kind of informational language. Such equivalence between life and information overwhelm the boundaries between nature and culture, giving new forms to the activity of thinking, that passes through a interpretative modality to a resolve other, that try to foresee the future. © Ciências & Cognição 2006; Vol. 08: 88-95.
