VOLANTE ZANON, Dulcimeire Ap  y  DE FREITAS, Denise. The science classroom in the first years of primary school: actions in favor of the learning in science teaching. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2007, vol.10, pp. 93-103. ISSN 1806-5821.

Abstract The purpose of this article is to discuss the importance of the investigative activities and of the discursive interactions in a classroom during the Science teaching. These activities can be understood as situations in which the student learns, getting progressively with the observation of natural phenomena, conjecturing, experimenting, making errors, interacting with classmates, with specialized people, stating his points of view and hypotheses and confronting them with others and with the experimental results in order to test their effectiveness and their pertinence. Their relevance is even greater at the beginning of the schooling process, since such activities help students to reach higher levels of cognitions, and, by doing so, they make it easier for them to learn scientific concepts. The analytical instrument developed by Mortimer and Scott allowed us to reveal the alternative dynamics and the speech flow in a third grade classroom of a elementary school, helping to understand important aspects of the teaching practice and the scientific learning process of the students. © Ciências & Cognição 2007; Vol. 10: 93-103.
