Resumen

GALINDO MASSABNI, Vânia. Constructivism on science teacher's practices: reality or utopia?. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2007, vol.10, pp. 104-114. ISSN 1806-5821.

Abstract Constructivism is a theoretical referential with origin on Psychology and Epistemology. It supports the individual as constructing knowledge by himself, idea that has implications for teaching in school. Nowadays, this idea is showed to teachers by pedagogical or educational Constructivism and 'slogans'. This Constructivism emphasizes student activity to knowledge construction as for as teacher is only a "facilitator" of the construction process, especially on Science Education. It will be Constructivism put in practices for Science teachers? To answer this question, we observed four teachers in action that assume to try putting it in practice, on classes. We observed that constructivist principles are present on classes, in some opportunities, not all the time. In practice, teachers introduce constructivist elements in "traditional teaching". So, there is not a constructivist practice, but there are some constructivist elements on teacher's practice which are identified in this article. © Ciências & Cognição 2007; Vol. 10: 104-114
