Abstract This investigation examined the adult's social network configuration and their satisfaction with their social relationships and their life satisfaction. We carried out an investigation with 21 adults with member amputation (mean age 42.62 years). The data collection included participants' characterization, data about disability, measure of life satisfaction, evaluation of the social network. The results indicated that 3 persons (on average) are part of the adults' social network. The participants told to be very satisfied with their social involvement today, with their social involvement when compared with others in the same age and with the number of people who compose their social network. Most of the participants told high levels of satisfaction with health and physical capacity, mental capacity and social involvement. The people that present smaller network are those who told higher level of satisfaction with mental capacity, higher level of life satisfaction 5 years ago. © Ciências & Cognição 2007; Vol. 10: 164-177.
