Abstract

D'ANTONA BACHERT, Cristina Maria  and  MOURAO ALVES OLIVEIRA, Maria Helena. The orientation of disciplinary problems by means of reading and debating texts. Ciênc. cogn. [online]. 2007, vol.11, pp. 110-119. ISSN 1806-5821.

Abstract The present paper proposes the reading and discussion of texts as a resource to orient students with disciplinary problems, as substitution or complement to traditional punishments used in schools. To verify its feasibility, the profile of the reader of a sample composed by 27 students from a private school in São Paulo attending classes from 5th to 8th grades, presenting improper attitudes during the classes was researched. A questionairy elaborated by the researchers was used as a means of evaluation. The results indicate that this kind of activity may be structured with short texts showing everyday scenes and the problems that arise from these relations. The debate from such readings might motivate the learner to analyze his attitudes and when performing them, realize the necessity of improving abilities concerning the cognitive, personal and social fields.
