Abstract Glue sniffing and abuse of other organic solvents is a common problem in big cities, especially of countries in development, which mainly affects homeless children, who live in the streets. Because it's a part of society extremely negligenciated, not enough attention has being given to the subject. The purpose of this work is to discuss the main consequences of inhalation of organic solvents, such as cerebellar dysfunction, cognitive deficits and peripheral neuropathies. © Ciências & Cognição 2007; Vol. 11: 204-207.
