Abstract

This essay tries to demonstrate that the adjective "human" attached to the term "human being" is not given as the result or the end of the biological process; it can not be understood under a typological concept of species. Using the evolutionary process and especially some of its steps, the importance of the sociability to the development of language which explains the explosion of human creativity, the appearance of the culture and the emergence of the self-consciousness is underlined. © Ciências & Cognição 2007; Vol. 12: ??-??.
