Abstract The central theme of this paper, not intended to put an end to the subject, is the production of scientific knowledge in education. Our main aim is to put forward a questioning trajectory on the foundations of the process of knowledge in education, examining, at this moment, the object's theoretical construction. This approach is performed departing from the discussion, still initial and provisory, of elements of the Marxist analysis on the process of production of scientific knowledge. The Marxist's epistemology argues that the scientific method in order to know the reality does not begins, necessarily, with the real itself, but in a defined theoretical field. This understanding is in opposition to the traditional form of thinking the course of knowledge, especially in research in education
