Abstract This paper suggests an analysis of the partial production of didactic material used in science's teaching according to Science, Technology and Society (STS) perspective, elaborated by a group of university professors, graduate students and students and teachers of Brazilian High schools. The materials were developed in the project "Instrumentation for the interdisciplinary teaching of natural science and mathematics", which was been carried out by de Centre of Scientific and Cultural Divulgation of the University of São Paulo, with the support of the Federal University of São Carlos. As main results, the selected didactic materials in the areas of Biology and Chemistry identified a general concern in relation to the contextualization of scientific and technological knowledge, the use of local resources and the establishment of global relations, the actions developed when the students are engaged in taking decisions and solving problems, as well as the role of the teacher as a facilitator in the learning process.
