Abstract

This article deals with the process of health-disease of professor workers. The aim was to verify the relations among the process of the professor work, the conditions under which it is developed and the possible physical and mental illnesses of professors in a federal university in Brazil. A survey was conducted with 189 professors. The results show that the professors present emotional distress, considering the high manifestation of symptoms such as nervousness, stress, mental fatigue, forgetfulness, insomnia, among others. The data obtained are important directions on how work processes currently in Brazilian public university interfere in the teacher health, while it has been little attention from government and university leaders for a growing teacher burnout, in terms of physical, psychological and interpersonal
